Chautauqua's Brews and Bands

Chautauqua Festival in the Park

The Chautauqua Festival is an eight-day, family-oriented celebration of music and arts, presented annually by the Wythe Arts Council. Now approaching its 41st year, the festival has become a cherished tradition, drawing visitors from across the region. Festivities commence with a vibrant parade and include art displays, photo exhibits, food vendors, and a crafts bazaar in and around Elizabeth Brown Park. Daily performances by local and regional artists span genres from beach music to bluegrass, culminating in nightly concerts featuring national talent—all offered free to the public. The festival embodies Wytheville’s commitment to cultural enrichment and community engagement.

July 4th in Downtown Wytheville

Celebrate Independence Day with small-town charm at Downtown Wytheville’s 4th of July Celebration, the largest single-day music festival in Wythe County. Regularly drawing over 10,000 attendees, the event features live musical performances on multiple stages, craft vendors, specialty drinks, a vintage car show, carnival games, and children’s activities, including a Kids Parade and Bike Giveaway. The festivities culminate in a spectacular fireworks display lighting up Main Street. With open container laws in effect, visitors can enjoy their beverages as they explore the festival’s offerings.

Downtown Wytheville transforms into a Halloween haven during the annual Mayhem on Main festival. Scheduled for the last Saturday before Halloween, this award-winning event offers a full day of spooky fun for all ages. Activities include costume contests, a Kids Fun Run Obstacle Course, live music, sidewalk trick-or-treating, horror movies, carnival games, specialty drinks, adult Halloween after-parties, haunted spirit tours, zombie laser tag hunt, and a haunted theatre tour. The community comes alive with festive decorations and eerie excitement, making it a must-attend event for Halloween enthusiasts.

Immerse yourself in the holiday spirit at “A Christmas to Remember,” held at the Hitachi Energy Arena in Wythe County.
